The directories identify public and private agencies which provide social services to children and adults. Categories include the blind, aged, disabled, emotionally disturbed, mentally retarded, children and youth, child placing agencies, detention homes, day care centers, planning and educational organizations, and Title XX contract programs. The series documents the Department's role in providing public assistance. One directory was published jointly by the Department of Mental Health.
